About us
What we do: Truro Foodbank is a Christian organisation dedicated to helping people in times of crisis. At the Foodbank Centres, we provide a safe, relaxing envirnoment and then chance to sit down and chat over a cup of tea or coffee. We have toys for children to play with. We have time to listen to you and swap your voucher for a three day supply of food for your and your immediate family. We can also refer you to organisations in Truro who may be able to help you with your problems - e.g. Citizens's Advice Bureau, Debt Advice, housing support etc. We can also offer a short prayer for you. We are part of a network of foodbanks that are affiliated to the Trussell Trust. Other Trussell Trust Foodbanks in Cornwall include: Bude, Falmouth/Penryn, St Austell and Wadebridge.
Who we are: It was Doreen Henderson's vision in 2009 to set up a foodbank in Truro, having seen them work in Canada. We have two committees:
Surplus Food: Sometimes we find we have surplus supplies of food in our store. Rather than just keep it there, we distribute it to similar organisations in the Truro area and other Foodbanks in Cornwall which help clients who are in a financial crisis and have little food ie similar to our clients. These include St Petroc's Society and hostels.
